Synchronous Renal Neoplasm: Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma and Papillary Urothelial Carcinoma in the Same Kidney

Abdominal computed tomography in a 64 year-old male presenting hematuria showed two malignant tumors in the left kidney, thus radical nephrectomy was realized. In histological preparations a clear cell renal cell carcinoma and a papillary urothelial carcinoma were identified occurring synchronously, which is a rare occurrence having only about 50 cases reported in the literature.

Coexisting Papillary and Clear Renal Cell Carcinoma in the Same Kidney

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common solid lesion of the kidney. Bilateral synchronous benign and malignant renal tumors have been defined in some reports. However, unilateral concordance of malignant renal tumors is very rare and there are only a few cases that had synchronous different subtypes of malignant renal tumors arising within the same kidney. Herein, we describe a 67-year-ol...

Clear cell papillary renal cell carcinoma: micro-RNA expression profiling and comparison with clear cell renal cell carcinoma and papillary renal cell carcinoma.

Clear cell papillary renal cell carcinoma (CCPRCC) is a low-grade renal neoplasm with morphological characteristics mimicking both clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC) and papillary renal cell carcinoma (PRCC). However, despite some overlapping features, their morphological, immunohistochemical, and molecular profiles are distinct. Micro-RNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs that play a cru...

Metastatic Renal cell Carcinoma Presenting as a clear-cell Tumor in Tongue: A Case Report

Introduction: Metastatic lesions of the oral cavity are extremely rare, accounting for approximately 1% of all malignant oral tumors. The most common primary sources of metastatic tumors in the oral region are, from the most to the least common, the breast, lung, kidney, bone, and colon. Renal cell carcinoma accounts for nearly 3% of all adult malignancies. It usually metastasizes to the lungs,...

Papillary renal cell carcinoma and collecting duct carcinoma combination. A case report and review of synchronous renal cell carcinoma subtypes in the same kidney

Collecting duct carcinoma (CDC), also known as Bellini duct carcino-ma, is a rare neoplasm comprising less than 1% of renal epithelial tumors [1]. Collecting duct carcinoma is an aggressive neoplasm and is thought to arise from the collecting ducts of renal medulla [2]. Papillary renal cell carcinoma (PRCC) comprises 10% of renal cell carcinomas (RCC) and has distinct cytogenetic and molecular ...
